In the Smolensk region has attracted record levels of investment in the history of the region
For 2018, the volume of investments into the fixed capital of the Smolensk region increased in comparison with 2017 year to 13.8 billion rubles and amounted to 71.3 billion rubles, this is the maximum value for the first time in the history of the region. The growth in comparable prices by 17.7% due to positive dynamics in key sectors of the economy.

The volume of investment in manufacturing industry in 2018 rose by 46.4% to the level of 2017. The share of investment in the manufacturing sector in terms of capital investment in large and medium enterprises amounted to 17.9%, which is 2.1% more than in 2017. The most active funds were invested in chemical production; manufacture of rubber and plastic products; wood processing and manufacture of products of wood and cork; manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products and manufacture of food products.
Maintained positive dynamics of investments in agriculture. Thanks to the implementation of major investment projects in the agricultural sector, investment in agriculture compared to 2017, the company grew by 30.8%, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the industry and as a consequence the development of the internal and external market.
For 2018, the year was marked by a growth of 9.4% in the volume of investments aimed at the development of transport-logistics complex, the construction of distribution centers, as well as the development of the road network.
Investment in electric energy, gas and steam; air conditioning has grown by 82.5% compared to 2017, due to the investment activity of natural monopolies in the sphere of energy.
A significant investment was made in activities in the field of health and social services, a growth of 3.6 times, compared to 2017, including through completion of construction of the perinatal center in the city of Smolensk.
In addition, investments with no budget and no investment in energy supply shows a positive trend and by the end of 2018 amounted to 53.4 billion rubles, which is 6.1 billion rubles more than in 2017 and 14 billion rubles more than in 2012.
This dynamics indicates a tendency for an increase in private investment and confirms the correctness established by the Governor of the Smolensk region Alexei Ostrovsky of the course in terms of development of investment activity, and also in part address one of the important economic tasks set by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to accelerate the growth of investment in fixed capital and increasing to 25% of their share in GDP.
According to preliminary data for the year 2018, the share of investment in GRP amounted to 24.7%, which is 4% higher than in 2017.
